Georgette Turner teaches our beginner and intermediate yoga classes. She is also a certified Pilates instructor. Georgette began her yoga practice in 1998 after the birth of her first child. In 1999, after giving birth to twins, yoga enabled her to quickly regain her physical and mental strength. Acknowledging the value of yoga in everyday life - incorporating breath and focus into the present moment, maintaining discipline and strength - Georgette teaches "yoga off the mat" - helping others find the spiritual and physical balance today's lives demand.
Kiwana Thomas is our Restorative Yoga teacher. She began her practice in 1998. After four years of being a student, Kiwana felt moved to teach. She has been teaching since 2002. Even though she loves to practice Ashtanga, Vinyasa and Power Yoga, she has always been drawn to the gentleness of Restorative Yoga. With degrees in Chemistry, Kiwana understands, on a scientific level, how the body is affected by negative factors such as stress, poor nutrition, etc. "Yoga's healing is deep and true, and it can transform," states Kiwana. "If the mind is relaxed, then the body will certainly follow."
Wendy Crumpton teaches beginner, intermediate and our power yoga classes. She is also a certified Pilates and spin instructor. Wendy began her study of yoga in 1997. Wendy quickly progressed in hatha yoga, and has since developed a keen interest in the Ashtanga Primary Series, studying under Dennis Dean. Wendy immensely enjoys the heat produced by the continuous linking of the postures, and considers ashtanga a premier yoga practice for increasing strength, stamina, and most importantly an awareness of breath and body. Additionally, Wendy has been instrumental in spreading knowledge of yoga with enthusiasm and authenticity throughout the African-American community.
